Water in Your Brain & Body

Recall what I said in the January 7 post, Water Remembers.

  • The human body is 50-75% water.
  • Blood is about 50% water.
  • Every cell in the body holds water and depends on it to function.
  • The most dense tissue in the body is bone. We think of them as being hard, but bones are actually built and maintained by living, water-filled cells.

Now we add this.

  • The brain is 77-78% water!

Water is critical for life. And the brain must be very important to hold onto so much of this precious resource!

Water Science Revolutionized

Dr.  Pollack's extraordinary book makes understanding water easy. It's entertaining, with delightful illustrations.

Reading it revolutionized my appreciation for water, and my understanding of life.

The few paragraphs that follow are but a smidgeon of what Pollack reveals. Read the book!

Water Molecule ~ H2O

This is super simplified.

  • Water is an Oxygen atom attached to two Hydrogen atoms.
  • Oxygen has 8 protons, 8 neutrons, and 8 electrons.
  • Hydrogen has one proton and one electron.
  • Protons have positive charge.
  • Electrons have negative charge.
  • Water is a Polar molecule, with negative charge from the electrons around the oxygen. And positive charge with the hydrogens.
  • Water easily separates into ions. The hydrogen ion H+ is called a proton. And OH- is a hydroxyl ion.

Chemical Reactions Make Life Happen

Everything that happens inside your body results from uncountable millions of chemical reactions.

Just breathing, or moving your pinky finger, or thinking, or speaking ...

Imagine the cell shown above and how many chemical reactions are going on.

Water and its proton and hydroxyl ions participate in all of these chemical reactions.

Attraction & Repulsion

When a bunch of water molecules are together, it's water! And cool chemistry stuff happens inside your glass of luscious drinkable liquid.

  • Negative charges repel other negative charges. So oxygen and its electrons repel other oxygens.
  • Positive charges repel other positive charges. So hydrogen and its proton repels other hydrogens.
  • Positive charges and negative charges are attracted to each other. So hydrogen is attracted to oxygen.

Fourth Phase of Water

In school, you learned about three forms of water. Liquid, ice (solid), and water vapor (gas).

Dr. Pollack and other scientists have discovered that there is a fourth phase of water that is kind of gel-like. It's more dense than plain liquid water, and less dense than ice.

To understand this, you have to know a little about how membranes and water interact.

Membranes
Have you ever used plastic wrap? It's a thin film of plastic. This is a form of membrane.

Blood vessel membrane, body stores stress, water and your brain heal through your biofield
Cell, water in your brain, body stores stress, membranes

Your body is filled with membranes made out of biological materials.

  • Skin, blood vessels, and other forms of connective tissue are membranes made out of collagen and elastin proteins. (Middle image, capillary blood vessel)
  • Your body's individual cells have a membrane surrounding the cell contents. Within that are organelles that also have membranes. Cellular membranes are made of fatty acids and proteins. (Right image, cell wall, proteins, and organelles)

Okay, so are you ready for one of the miracles that makes life possible??

When water is next to particular types of membranes, some of the water molecules separate into + and - ions, with the negative ions collecting near the membrane. This is called the exclusion zone.

  • This happens with all of the membranes in the body!
  • This facilitates all of the chemical reactions.
  • The movement of fluids, including blood, is dramatically impacted by the formation of EZ Water. (I'm not explaining this here. Read the book.)
  • And so much more!
