Human Design sorts us into five Types

Each Type has a defined decision-making and action-taking Strategy as well as an Emotional Theme that arises when you’re not living in tune with your Type and your Strategy.

When you learn your Type and begin consciously adhering to your corresponding Strategy, you can live a more empowered, fulfilled life, and your Emotional Theme will dominate your existence less often.

When you Pull a Human Design Chart, you receive a customized Chart Guide. That tells you about your Human Design Type.

This page shares information about all five Human Design Types.

Manifestors, Projectors & Reflectors

Manifestors

Manifestors make up roughly 8% of the population. You are the only Type who is designed to initiate action. Other types need to wait for outside signals or invitations.

Human conditioning tells us everyone should “just do it.” According to Human Design, only Manifestors are cut out to work like this.

You do not have a sustainable internal force toward life and work, so working a typical 9 to 5 job for many years will burn you out. Managing your energy correctly will help you forge a path that aligns with your purpose and allow you to attract the right kind of opportunity.

Manifestors’ decision-making/action-taking strategy is to inform. Before you take action, inform those who will be impacted.

Manifestors’ emotional theme is anger. When you are not living in tune with your Type, you may experience this emotion and others around you may experience it in response to your actions. Even when you are following your strategy, anger may be a common part of your experience.

Projectors

Projectors make up roughly 21% of the population. Your role in life is to manage, guide and direct others. You do not have a sustainable internal force toward life and work, so working a 9 to 5 job for many years will burn you out unless you manage your energy correctly.

A Projector’s decision-making/action-taking strategy is to wait to be invited. You’ll move through the world with greater ease if you wait to be invited into the big choices in life such as marriage, your career, and where you live. Projectors need to wait for invitations for small decisions and actions, too. Your inherent power and wisdom are made accessible to you when you are recognized and invited. Because of this, it is often Projectors who struggle the most in life.

A Projector’s emotional theme is bitterness. Social conditioning tells us that everyone should “just do it”. This will not work well for you. If you attempt to initiate action, for example, you may receive unsatisfactory responses that leave you feeling bitter. If what you say is misunderstood or rejected, you may experience bitterness. When you are not living in tune with your Type, you will experience this emotion. Others around you may also experience it in response to your actions.

Reflectors

Reflectors make up less than 1% of the population. Your role in life is to mirror others and reflect the health of your community. You are an early warning signal, displaying things that are not right in your family, group, organization or community. You take in and experience the energies of everyone around you. You have the potential to experience the entire range of the human experience and to become some of the wisest people among us.

A Reflector’s decision-making/action-taking strategy is to wait 29 days, a full lunar cycle, before making important decisions. During this time, talk with others about your decision. Information about your decision will be reflected off of other people, enabling you to gain clarity over time. Once you have reached a decision, you can then take action.

Reflectors who do not understand their Design and do not follow their Strategy may experience their emotional theme of feeling disappointed, lost and overwhelmed. When you are not living in tune with your Type, you may experience this emotion. Others around you may also experience it in response to your actions.

Generators & Manifesting Generators

Generators

Generators make up roughly 37% of the population. You have a sustainable, internal force toward life and work. You are designed to do work that you love. When you find work that you love, you are actively energized by your work.

A Generator’s decision-making/action-taking strategy is to wait to respond. You’ll move through the world with greater ease if you wait for opportunities or signals to come from your outer reality, then take action based on your internal response.

A Generator’s emotional theme is frustration. When you are not living in tune with your Type, you may experience this emotion. Others around you may experience it in response to your actions. Even when you are following your strategy, frustration may be a common part of your experience.

Manifesting Generators

Manifesting Generators make up roughly 33% of the population. They have qualities in common with both Generators and Manifestors. You have a sustainable, internal force toward life and work. You are designed to do work that you love. When you find work that you love, you are actively energized by your work.

A Manifesting Generator’s decision-making/action-taking strategy is to wait to respond, like a Generator. You’ll move through the world with greater ease if you wait for opportunities or signals to come from your outer reality, then take action based on your internal response. Like a Manifestor, your experience in life will be smoother and more satisfying when you inform those who will be impacted before taking action.

Manifesting Generators’ emotional themes are frustration and anger. Social conditioning tells us that everyone should “just do it”. You may want so much to make things happen, but initiating them may produce unsatisfying results, as well as frustration and anger. You may experience these emotions yourself. People around you may also experience them in response to your actions.
