No More Pain In the Neck
I have a sharp pain in my upper back and neck, and a tight and painful shoulder and upper arm. Perhaps worse are the continual spasms in my forearm and wrist.
Almost all of my work is Biofield Tuning. This involves striking and holding tuning forks to work on people. My right arm is so tight and painful that I can’t hold the forks for more than a couple of minutes. My calendar is full of appointments, and it hurts to hold the forks. I learn to hold the forks with my left hand, so I can work.
I am grateful to be able to do Biofield Tuning on myself. This is all that got me through the days.
It was an intense couple of weeks.
Then a friend recommended John Welch and Freeborn Fitness.
I connect with John and start working with the ligamentum nuchae. This changes everything.
The ligamentum nuchae is a connective tissue structure in the back of the neck that probably received one mention in my massage school education. Then nothing. I learned no techniques for working with this critical structure.
John is rectifying this gap in the health world’s awareness of the ligamentum nuchae.
Look at a horse’s neck. The ligamentum nuchae is the hefty structure on the back of the neck that holds the head up. It’s pretty important.
In our more vertically-positioned necks, human’s have this structure too. It’s important! Sadly, most people are unaware that it exists.
Working with John, soon my ligamentum nuchae is much more successfully supporting my head.
Those nerve symptoms? They.Are.Gone.

Back to the article.
Working with John, soon my ligamentum nuchae is much more successfully supporting my head.
Those nerve symptoms? They.Are.Gone.
For decades I have struggled with persistent neck tightness. Thank goodness for massage and chiropractic to keep pain and headaches from being more than occasional problems.
In recent months, a new type of chiropractic care had provided dramatic improvements in my neck. If you want information about this modality, please see the end of this article.
Biofield Tuning helped too. My work nicely complemented the chiropractic treatments.
I was doing well. Then in a bodywork class, I did something and activated these nerve symptoms.
I do something positive and feel worse? That doesn’t seem fair!
I think this was a Healing Crisis. I was doing well, so my body went into its store of old injuries and pulled one up for healing. I’d previously had the upper back pain, and some in my forearm, just not the rest of it.
Now it demanded my attention. The symptoms were significantly more intense than ever before.
The brachial plexus is a group of nerves that comes out of the spine in the middle of the neck and provides nerve function in the arm. The nerve is blue in this image.
Imbalances in the bones and muscles were pinching the nerves, leading to pain and spasms.
NUCCA Chiropractic had helped tremendously. The tension in my neck and shoulders was dramatically reduced. However, it was not eliminating the brachial plexus symptoms. They probably would have resolved eventually, but I wasn’t waiting.
(If you are within ready driving distance of Kelowna, B.C., I highly recommend Gary Thomson, D.C. of NUCCA Kelowna. Say Sandra Lee recommended him. If you are elsewhere, search NUCCA.org for a practitioner.)
Adding the exercises of John Welch’s Freeborn Fitness protocol into my routine strengthened my ligamentum nuchae and provided overall balance. This nicely complemented the NUCCA.
The brachial plexus symptoms are history.
Thank you, John Welch, for opening my eyes to the importance of the ligamentum nuchae.
Your contribution has transformed my health.
