My Mindset, My Choice

My-Mindset-My-Choice

Sometimes things are outside of my control, and I get to choose how to handle it. If I allow things to upset me, there is a negative impact on my health, my happiness, and my ability to be successful.

A lot has been out of control since the pandemic began in 2020. Each person settles on the way they handle those circumstances. Pandemic stress has become ‘normalized.’ It’s not helping us, but we’re used to it.

My current stress is acute, because technology is going sideways. Google. Enough said?

Yesterday, I allowed this to really upset me. Things I need to do won’t be completed on time, and my over-controlling personality is upset.

It is all up to me. My Mindset, My Choice.

With stress on overdrive, my body triggers a survival-based danger response, the fight-or-flight system. This suppresses functioning of the immune and digestive systems, and cognitive functioning, i.e. my ability to think clearly and make smart decisions.

When I’m being chased by a bear, emergency management keeps me alive. However, these strategies are detrimental when stress is chronic.

What Do You Choose?

For many people, persistent stress is a life reality.

When you are aware of being stuck in persistent stress, pause and take a breath. See if you can let go of the stress. Even for a while.

Or maybe you were overwhelmed with work and the stresses of life, and you scrolled through your Facebook feed and saw a meme that made you smile? Or saw an inspirational story on Instagram that spoke to the exact place you were emotionally that day?

This is exactly the purpose and mission of The Be Well Circle. ” …

Reducing Stress

Here are suggestions for ways to reduce stress through actions taken in several important life aspects. (I am not making medical recommendations or prescriptions. This is just common sense.)

Water – Drink more water. Plus, make sure you get enough electrolytes. This is an important part of water balance. I tell people to get whole salt, which is a whole food and not as dangerous as we have been led to believe. Don’t believe me. Do your own research. This is salt that has all of the minerals that come from the ocean. The kind that I recommend is Celtic Salt. (I am not making a medical recommendation or a prescription. This is just common sense.)

Breathe – When you notice yourself holding your breath, check into the amount of tension held in your body. Take a deep breath, and allow the tension to relax.

Movement – Are you holding tension in your body? Allow the tension to relax. And move. Take a walk. Get some exercise. Even just getting away from your desk and doing some stretching helps.

Sleep – If you’re shorting your sleep, then get more shut-eye. If you stay up late, go to bed earlier.

Food – If you eat a lot of packaged foods, gradually increase the amount of whole foods that you consume. I realize this can be challenging. Do it a little at a time.
Decrease packaged foods that have a lot of food additives. Read food labels. If there is a food that you know is not good for your health and your mental function, make every effort to eliminate it.

Hugs – Get hugs! They are stress reducing, nurturing, loving, and healing.

Relationships – Plan for quality time with the important people in your life.
Arrange for social time. This is stress reducing, nurturing, loving, and healing.

Gratitude – Express gratitude for what you have. Express gratitude for the people in your life.

Meditate – Even if it is just for a few moments at a time, pause, breathe, and allow the stress to fall away. Quiet your mind.

Get Help – Asking for help can be challenging, but it makes so much difference. You do not have to handle all of your stresses alone.

Work with a Practitioner – I’m a Biofield Tuning Practitioner. Using sound and tuning forks, I help people to release stress with amazing ease and rapidity. I’ve been a massage therapist for 29 years. Massage is a fabulous way to help manage stress. There are so many different treatment modalities that can help with stress management!!!

There are many ways of reducing stress in small ways. They all make a difference.
